POWER STEERING –SYSTEM AND PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLING ON 1955-62 CORVETTES.
:::::::: READ THOROUGHLY.
THE FOLLOWING IS FOR THE RAM-LINK-CHASSIS INSTALLATION PORTION.
1. warning: DUE TO THE AGE OF THESE CORVETTES, PREVIOUS/UNKNOWN HISTORICAL COLLISIONS,
WARNING: YOU SHOULD INSPECT YOUR CAST SUPPORT BRACKET ( PICTURED ABOVE)THAT
BOLTS TO THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER WITH 4-BOLTS IT CAN OVER THE YEARS DEVELOP STRESS
CRACKS -ESPECIALLY AROUND THE LARGE REAR CASTLE NUT—ARROW #1 ABOVE--AND HAS
BEEN KNOWN TO BREAK, WITH THE RESULTING COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND
FOLLOWED BY ABRUPT UNCONTROLLED STOPAGE OF THE VEHICLE. CLEAN THE BRACKET
THOROUGHLY AND CHECK VISUALLY FOR CRACKS- suggest YOU SHOULD MAGNAFLUX CHECK IT FOR
SAFETY. THINK SAFETY FIRST. ( OLD GM MOTTO.)
2. THE THIRD ARM BOLTS TO THIS 3RD ARM SUPPORT BRACKET. INCLUDED IN THE KIT IS
3RD ARM WITH MODIFIED HOLES FOR RAM-RELAY—AS it HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION SOME OF
THE CARS OUT THERE NOW HAVE FOREIGN TIE ROD ENDS THAT ARE DIFFERENT DIAMETER
(LARGER) THAN THE ORIGINAL AND REQUIRE THE TAPERED HOLES IN THE STEERING PLATE
TO BE ENLARGED FOR ACCEPTING THEM. IF YOU HAVE THESE PLEASE CALL CRANE
IMMEDIATELY -MEASURE THEM (LARGEST AND SMALLEST DIA.)AND WE WILL assist you TO
ENLARGE THE HOLES FROM THE SMALLER SIDE—CALL FIRST. .
INSTALL THE RAM MOUNTING BRACKET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE-OUTSIDE OF FRAME RAIL -- AT
THE FOLD IN THE FRAME PER PHOTO (EXCEPT BRACKET SHOULD BE MOVE UP A 1/2” TO BE
FLUSH WITH TOP OF FRAME. WITH (2) GRADE 5 OR 8 QUALITY BOLTS THROUGH THE FRAME
WITH LOCK WASHERS & LOCK NUTS… WELDING AFTER FINAL INSTALLATION OF THE
BRACKET IS RECOMMENDED =note: drill 2 -- 1/2 " dia . thru holes for the
sleeves ( prevents frame from collapsing when bolts are tighted. --NOTE:
THE UPPER BOLT MUST GO THROUGH THE NEW PROVIDED SHORTER-gap- STEERING STOP BRACKET

WITH YOUR TIE ROD ENDS FOR ALIGNMENT.
PUMP INSTALLATION FOR SYSTEM 1 (GENERATOR MOUNT)–BOLTS ON PASS. SIDE 58-62
DEPENDING ON APPLICATION –
PUMP INSTALLATION FOR SYSTEM II ( FRONT MOUNT-pump =next to waterpump)–BOLTS ON TWO BOSSES THAT ARE
ALSO USED FOR IDLER PULLEY- IN 1962---REFER TO PHOTO AND VIDEO-
NOTE: ON 1957-62 CORVETTES WITH CROSSOVER FI EXHAUST PIPE – IF INTERFERENCE
OCCURS WITH THE RAM – THE PIPE MUST BE BENT BACK FOR GOOD CLEARANCE OR REMOVE
THE CORSSOVER PIPE.
Important: also: The pulley is installed on the
PS pump shaft with 1/2" engagement leaving approx. 3/8" more for
the pulley to go on the shaft. you may press pulley on the shaft further to
align all pulleys with the bolt and washer kit provided. Make sure
to install all pulleys and check belt alignment before pressing pulley on
further to achieve final pulley alignment for the belts. The pulley can be
take down about another 3/8" till the shaft is flush with the pulley shaft
outer surface for max. engagement.

11. ASSEMBLED CRANE-LINK-3RD ARM-PITMAN-RAM- ASSEMBLY
12. PUMP MOUNTING PLATE WITH BOLTs and 2-spacers for back of plate
13. Steering sop w/ 2 holes drilled.
14. 3rd Arm w/ tapered hole bolted to adapter Brkt
(w/tapered holes for tie rods.
